In 2023, citizens of Uzbekistan submitted 46,503 applications for a Schengen visa, the European Commission reported.
According to the data, Uzbek citizens were refused in 16.5% of cases. The number of approved applications is 38,333.
Compared to 2022, the proportion of refusals increased by 0.4%, but then 39,509 applications were submitted.
In total, last year, consulates of EU countries and associated Schengen countries received over 10.3 million applications for short-term visas. This is 37% more than in 2022 (7.5 million), but lower than the number of requests in pre-pandemic 2019 (17 million).
