Voter turnout in Uzbek regions was between 86-89%

Citizens of Uzbekistan showed high political activity in the presidential elections, which were held on 4 December, the data of the Central Election Commission showed.

According to the preliminary data of the CEC, over 17.941 million voters cast their ballots in the presidential elections, which makes up 87.83% from total number of registered voters.

The data of the CEC shows that voter turnout was higher than 86% in all regions of Uzbekistan.

The highest voter turnout was registered in Jizzakh region (89.29%) and Syrdarya region (88.98%). In other regions, voter turnout was between 86% and 88%.

The Central Election Commission registered four candidates to the post of the President of Uzbekistan – from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Hotamjon Ketmonov, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milly Tiklanish" – Sarvar Otamuratov and the Social-democratic party "Adolat" – Narimon Umarov.
