Uzbekistan set to increase the size of allowances for children and material assistance to low-income families

From September 1, the size of allowances for children and material assistance to low-income families will increase. The President has signed a relevant decree.

According to the document, from September 1, a single allowance will replace the current material benefits for a child under 14 years of age and benefits for caring for a baby under 2 years old.

With the appointment of the above allowance, the age limit of children is increased from 14 to 18 years and the payment period from 6 to 12 months.

In addition, the amount of the allowance is determined based on the number of children in the family.

The document says that low-income families who have no children or have children over 18 years old will be assigned material assistance.

The amount of child allowances:

- for one child from 3 to 18 years old – 250,000 soums (+56,000 soums);

- for one child under the age of 3 – 325,000 soums (+131,000 soums);

- additional supplement for the second child – 150,000 soums (+186,000 soums);

- for the third and subsequent children – from 100,000 soums (increases from the current 190,000 to 290,000 soums);

The amount of material assistance to low-income families will amount to 380,000 soums.

It is noted that starting from January 1, 2022, the amount of minimum consumer spending will be used as a criterion for determining the level of poverty and per capita income for determining the low-income families.
