Uzbekistan extends deadline for privileges for importing 23 types of food products
The president signed a decree “On additional measures to ensure price stability in the consumer market”.
By decree of the president, the period of validity of customs privileges for the import of certain types of food products has been extended until July 1, 2023.
According to the document adopted in order to provide the population with socially significant products and prevent the growth of food prices in the domestic market, the validity of the following benefits is extended from January 1 to July 1, 2023:
• application of “zero” rates of import customs duty on 23 types of imported basic food products (meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, fruits, citrus fruits, vegetable oil and other food products);
• non-application of a double rate of customs duty to food products imported from countries that do not provide the most favored nation treatment in trade and economic relations.
These benefits were provided by presidential decree from June 1, 2022, until January 1, 2023. Thanks to these privileges, the geography of foreign trade relations has also expanded. In particular, the volume of food imports from Ecuador, Iran and Norway increased. For the first time, imports were made from Argentina and Serbia.
