The countries are preparing to conclude a relevant agreement.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan intend to establish a joint-stock company to implement the construction and operation of Kambarata-1 HPP project.
According to Knews, the share of the Kyrgyz side in the project and authorized capital is 34%, and the Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan sides take 33% each. The corresponding draft of the tripartite intergovernmental agreement was published on the “Open Regulatory Legal Documents” site of Kazakhstan.
It is noted in the document that “the main principles of the cooperation of the parties within the framework of the project are the guaranteed purchase of the entire amount of electricity produced at Kambarata-1 HPP by the organizations specified by the parties”.
After the implementation of the project, Kambarata-1 HPP shares and assets will be fully owned by the Kyrgyz side, according to the draft contract.
In January 2023, the heads of the energy agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed a roadmap for the implementation of the Kambarata-1 HPP construction project on the Naryn River.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kambarata-1 HPP should become the largest power station in Kyrgyzstan and will provide electricity to the countries of Central Asia, as well as stabilize the water supply of the region.
Earlier, President Sadyr Japarov said that the construction of Kambarata-1 HPP will cost 5-6 billion dollars.
