Uzbekistan's flag flies high on Oceania's tallest volcano

For the first time, the flag of Uzbekistan has been raised over the highest volcano in Australia and Oceania. Mount Giluwe, standing at 4,368 meters, is located in one of the most dangerous and exotic countries in the world, Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea is considered the largest tropical island in the world, home to over 800 tribes. Some of the tribes there still live as if they were in the Stone Age.

"Our team passed through wild jungles and endless swamps to ascend the highest volcano of the next continent. Previously, members of our team had conquered other highest volcanoes in the Eastern Hemisphere (Asia, Europe, Africa)," said members of the Mysterious Uzbekistan team in their comment to Kun.uz.

This climbing team, consisting of Sharof Egamberdiev, Eldor Gafurov, Nodir Dadakhonov, and Andrey Tarantin, had previously mounted the flag of Uzbekistan on Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus Mountains (located in Russia) at an altitude of 5,642 meters in the summer of 2023.

In September 2023, the team also succeeded in conquering Mount Damavand, the highest volcano in Asia, located in northern Iran, and raised the flag of Uzbekistan at an altitude of 5,610 meters above sea level.
