Ulugbek Mustafoyev replaces Ergash Soliyev as governor of Jizzakh region

Ergash Soliyev, who had been serving as the governor of the Jizzakh region since October 2017, has been relieved of his duties. Sources confirmed the information to Kun.uz, with official statements citing his transition to another position as the reason for his departure.

A meeting was held at the regional administration to address this leadership transition. During the gathering, it was announced that Ulugbek Mustafoyev has been appointed as the acting governor of the Jizzakh region by a presidential decree.

Ergash Soliyev’s career has been closely tied to the Jizzakh region. From 2000 to 2012, he served as the governor of the Pakhtakor district. He then became the rector of the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute in 2012. Between 2016 and 2017, he held the position of governor of the Arnasay district before being appointed as the Jizzakh regional governor in 2017, replacing Ulugbek Uzokov.

Ulugbek Mustafoyev, born on August 14, 1968, in the Jizzakh region, graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy in 1991, specializing in "Finance and Credit." He began his career in banking, working at the Jizzakh branch of “Sanoatqurilishbank” in junior and senior specialist roles.

In subsequent years, Mustafoyev served as a senior economist and head of the cash circulation department at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan's operational management. From 2010 to 2016, he held the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank.

His career trajectory also includes serving as First Deputy Governor of the Jizzakh region from 2016 to 2017 and as Chairman of the Board of “Uzbekenergo” in 2017. In 2019, following a major restructuring in Uzbekistan’s energy sector, he was appointed Board Chairman of “Regional Electric Networks” JSC, a position he held until his recent appointment.
