Uzbekistan’s Supreme Court updates list of banned extremist and terrorist online resources

The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has released an updated list of materials banned for import, production, distribution, and display in the country due to their association with extremist and terrorist ideologies. The list includes over 1,300 online platforms, with a significant portion hosted on the popular messaging app Telegram.

According to the updated document, the list comprises of 203 Facebook pages, 713 Telegram channels and groups, 226 Instagram profiles, 135 YouTube channels, 44 TikTok accounts, 35 pages on Odnoklassniki, 13 websites, and various other sources.

The announcement shows that the dissemination of materials produced by the channels and groups included in the list constitutes a violation of Uzbekistan's laws.

Authorities say they aim to combat the spread of extremist and terrorist content within the digital sphere and safeguard national security and uphold public order.
