Former cadastral officials caught accepting $10,000 bribe in land reclassification scheme
The former head of the Cadastral Agency’s Andijan district branch, A.M., and a former employee, S.O., were detained while accepting a $10,000 bribe, the Andijan Regional Prosecutor’s Office has reported.
According to the statement, the two promised to change the category of a one-hectare plot of land – originally allocated for horticulture – into a residential zone. They claimed they could facilitate the reclassification and formalization of the cadastral documents through their connections at the Republican Cadastral Chamber.
A criminal case has been initiated against A.M. and others under Articles 168 (Part 3, Clauses a and b) and 28,211 (Part 2, Clauses a and b) of the Criminal Code. They have been detained in accordance with procedural law, and investigative actions are currently underway.
