The president outlined key plans to develop the country’s AI ecosystem, including the launch of a supercomputer cluster in partnership with Nvidia, the establishment of a National Transfer Office in Silicon Valley, and the introduction of AI-focused curricula in all regional "Kelajak Markazlari" (Future Centers).
A major highlight of the initiatives is an annual interschool competition to identify the best AI startup ideas. Winning schools will receive state-of-the-art AI laboratories to foster innovation. Additionally, Uzbekistan will host a presidential AI competition, selecting 100 of the most talented young individuals each year for internships at leading technology companies in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Europe.
President Mirziyoyev also announced the launch of the “5 million AI leaders” project, aimed at training 4.75 million students, 150,000 teachers, and 100,000 public servants by 2030. The initiative will integrate AI education across schools, vocational training, and higher education institutions. November will be declared “AI month for youth,” with the “Silk Road AI Forum” to be held regularly.
The president highlighted Uzbekistan’s growing attractiveness for technology investment. The country has secured nearly $2 billion in direct investments in AI and digital technologies. IT services exports have surged 4.5 times compared with previous years, approaching $1 billion. The number of startups has increased tenfold, attracting $300 million in investment. Construction has also begun on the first green data center, a $3 billion project in partnership with Saudi Arabia.
These initiatives underscore Uzbekistan’s determination to position itself as a regional leader in AI development and innovation, creating new opportunities for the nation’s youth and strengthening its digital economy.
