No comment: Kazakhstan bans the movement of buses Bishkek-Tashkent through its territory

Bishkek declares that Kazakhstan unilaterally stopped movement of buses on the transit international route Bishkek-Tashkent through its territory without explanation.

The international bus route Bishkek-Tashkent was launched in April 2018, following the meeting of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The transit route passes through the territory of neighboring Kazakhstan, it is jointly served by two major Uzbek-Kyrgyz transport companies.

“Without coordination with the competent authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan and without ground, requirements of the Convention “On international road transport of passengers and baggage” was violated by the authorized state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan – transit movement of buses serving the international bus route “Bishkek-Tashkent” was suspended,” RIA Novosti quotes a report of the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan.

The ministry noted that the Kazakh side had previously asked to shift the timetable for buses on this route. After which Tashkent and Bishkek developed a new schedule and sent it to the competent authorities of Kazakhstan in November last year. The new schedule is “currently not agreed by the Kazakh side”.

The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan reported that at present “negotiations are underway to resolve this issue” between the authorized bodies of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
