The company GM Uzbekistan has decided to cease manufacturing the restyled version of the sedan Chevrolet Cobalt, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the JSC Uzavtosanoat Azizbek Shukurov said.
“Cobalt is not a new model. GM implemented a project in Brazil in 2016. There, this model was removed at the end of the year. Running after the old models makes no sense. This concept of cooperation has lost relevance. We will develop new models that GM plans to introduce,” he said.
Shukurov also said that GM Uzbekistan in the third quarter of this year will launch two new models in the SUV segment. “Captiva was removed from the production last year. Instead of it, at the end of the third quarter there will be two new cars in this segment,” the car industry representative said.
According to him, Uzavtosanoat is launching new investment projects with General Motors, which are connected with the launch of debut cars.
“We have agreed that these models will be the fresh launches. They will begin to be produced in China in the second half of the year. At the beginning of 2021, we will release three models from the global GM platform,” Shukurov added.
