Within the framework of the Asian Hockey Federation’s Congress, which is being held in Gifu city of Japan, chairman of the Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Akhmedov was awarded a special prize of the continental federation for his personal contribution to the development and popularization of this type of sport in Uzbekistan. He was also elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the AHF, the press service of the NOC reported.
During the Congress, Bahodir Akhmedov has reached a number of agreements on hockey development in Uzbekistan. In the autumn of last year, the Head of the federation and Secretary-General took part in the 46th Congress of the International Hockey Federation in Delhi, India, where he met with the Asian and World Federations' leaders and held talks on a number of issues.
As a result, the country has reached an agreement on building a special surface cover for hockey field, which will cost $400,000. The parties agreed to organize an international tournament in Tashkent, as well as supply sports equipment to Uzbekistan next year.
