Uzbekistan, Russia fail to agree on unrestricted choice of frequencies for flights of Russian companies

The Uzbek and Russian aviation authorities have failed to reach agreement on unrestricted choice of frequencies for flights of Russian companies on contractual routes between the countries, the protocol signed following the meeting of delegations in late April states, Interfax reported.

“The Russian side proposed to give designated airlines of the RF the right to freely choose frequencies for flights on contractual routes between the two states,” the protocol on the Rosaviation website says.

“The Uzbek side stated that it is too early to consider this possibility, proposed to establish and gradually increase the frequency of implementation on the relevant contractual routes for designated carriers,” the document indicated. The list of routes with agreed frequencies until the summer of 2020 is given in the annex to the protocol.

At the same time, the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan have agreed to grant one designated carrier on each side the right to fly under the “triangle” scheme to five cities, which the airlines themselves can choose. The Uzbek side reported that such flights will be operated to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Kazan. The choices of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan is not reported in the protocol.
