Mirziyoyev instructs new Prosecutor General to replace 60% of the personnel at the institution

During the 20th plenary session of the Senate, President Mirziyoyev ordered the new Prosecutor General to replace 60% of the personnel at the prosecution authorities, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

“You must clean up the institution from unscrupulous employees. Either you replace 60% of the personnel, or we liquidate the organization. Reduce its staff. The prosecutor's office will become a small agency. We will transfer many of its functions to the Justice Ministry. If the leadership of the prosecutor’s office is corrupt, then no doubt that subordinates are prone to taking bribes. After all, who pays the bills? Of course, the people,” the head of state said, addressing the new Prosecutor General.

During the meeting, it also became known that criminal proceedings were initiated against the former Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Otabek Murodov.

Earlier it was reported that Otabek Murodov was dismissed from the post of Prosecutor General. The corresponding decree was signed on June 20 by Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Murodov was replaced by the chairman of the upper chamber of Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldashev on the same day.

It should be recalled that the President appointed Murodov as Prosecutor General in January 2018. Prior to that, he served as state advisor to the head of state.
