“Urgench” International Airport was recognized by the “Airport” Association of CIS Civil Aviation as the “Best Airport of CIS countries in 2015”.
On this occasion, at the event it was specially noted that as a result of constant attention under the leadership of the President of our country National Air Company “Uzbekiston Havo Yo’llari” (Uzbekistan Airways) has taken a worthy place in the international aviation market, in a short time has been included in a number of reliable, fast-growing airlines.
As part of the execution of the resolution of the Head of our state “On the program of tourism development in Khorezm region for 2013-2015” dated March 20, 2013, “Urgench” International Airport was reconstructed on the basis of international standards.
In 2014, at the airport were launched two new terminals with a capacity of 600 passengers per hour. There are an exchange office, the Mother-and-child room, medical office, "Duty-free" shop and a coffee shop, where all the necessary conditions have been created. There is a transit lounge for 200 passengers, VIP-, CIP-rooms, crew recreation room. A special information office for tourists created in the terminal. Here, they can get the necessary information about transport opportunities in the region, hotels, catering points, and other information. In order to ensure security was installed modern equipment. Airport receives many tourists from Paris, Milan and other cities in the world. All conditions for the safety of passengers and their high-quality service have been created.
“Urgench” International Airport won in two categories. In addition to the title of “Best Airport of CIS countries in 2015,” it was named as the best in the nomination “For significant contribution to the development of tourism”. At the event, Director General of the “Airport” Association of CIS Civil Aviation Victor Gorbachev handed administration of the “Urgench” International Airport prize and a special diploma of the association.
