Citizens who posted insulting posts against the President of Uzbekistan and his family were brought to justice. An UzNews.uz correspondent reports this with reference to the Supreme Court information.
For example, a 25-year-old citizen, a 4th year student at Samarkand State University, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of correctional labor with a deduction of 20% of wages. It turned out that from May 23 to August 22, 2023, the guy posted 10 videos on Instagram about the President of Uzbekistan with insults.
On January 22 of this year, the Jizzakh city court sentenced a 29-year-old man from Namangan to 4 years of imprisonment for insulting the president. In June 2020, he left a comment under a TikTok video with insults to Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his mother.
A 33-year-old man from Fergana also insulted the president on TikTok. Moreover, he did this more than once. He was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In January of this year, two Samarkand residents, 26 and 30 years old, as well as a 25-year-old resident of Karakalpakstan, were also brought to justice. They left their offensive comments under more than 15 videos about Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Natives of the Samarkand region were sentenced to 2 years of correctional labor each, and a citizen from Karakalpakstan – to 1 year.
A resident of Fergana was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He was sentenced in February of this year. The man posted several videos on Facebook insulting the president, as well as a derogatory poem.
A 60-year-old resident of Fergana also posted a video discrediting the president and Shukhrat Ganiyev on YouTube.
The woman, accusing Shukhrat Ganiyev of fraud and corruption, doubted the president’s honesty. The court found her guilty and sentenced her to 3 years of restriction of freedom, she was imposed a fine.
Another fact of insulting the president was recorded by employees the Samarkand regional DIA. A local resident called the short number “102” and said that he was dissatisfied with the powers that the president had vested in law enforcement officers, while insulting the head of state. The court sentenced the offender to 3 years of correctional labor.
Kun.uz previously wrote that a 28-year-old resident of Namangan was sentenced to 5 years in prison for writing derogatory comments about the president.
