Moscow court arrests citizen of Uzbekistan suspected in murder of General Igor Kirillov: Hearing held behind closed doors
The Basmanny Court of Moscow has placed Ahmad Qurbonov, a citizen of Uzbekistan, in custody for two months, as he is suspected of being involved in the killing of General Igor Kirillov. He faces formal charges under the criminal offenses of "terrorism" and "illegal trafficking of weapons."
The Basmanny Court in Moscow ruled to arrest Ahmad Qurbonov, who is accused of the murder of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of the Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces.
Reports indicate that Qurbonov has been detained for two months. According to court documents from Interfax, he has been officially charged with "terrorism" and "illegal trafficking of weapons." Earlier, sources from TASS also noted that Qurbonov is facing charges under the "murder" article.
The court hearing was held behind closed doors following a formal request from the investigators.
Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant were killed on the morning of December 17 in a blast near his apartment on Ryazansky Prospect in Moscow. According to the investigation, the explosive device was attached to an electric scooter parked next to the building’s entrance.
On December 18, the Russian Investigative Committee, in cooperation with the FSB and Ministry of Internal Affairs, arrested a 29-year-old Uzbek citizen on suspicion of carrying out a terrorist attack. During questioning, the suspect revealed that he had been recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services, who promised him a $100,000 reward and guaranteed residence in a European country in exchange for his involvement.
