President Japarov highlighted this milestone as a testament to Kyrgyzstan's ability to achieve significant progress by leveraging its own resources and opportunities. He emphasized that the project, which had been under discussion for decades, is finally coming to fruition.

“When we initiated this project, some regarded it as a great idea but doubted its realization. Today, you all witness its feasibility. On December 27, construction will officially begin. This railway will serve as a strategic bridge connecting East and West,” Japarov stated.

Describing the project as the "construction of the century," Japarov underlined its potential to unlock new opportunities for trade, tourism, and industrial development in the region.

The ambitious railway project was agreed upon in September 2022 by Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China. It involves the construction of a 454-kilometer railway line with investment shares distributed as follows: Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan at 24.5% each, and China holding the majority stake at 51%.

Kyrgyzstan has pledged to invest 11 billion Kyrgyz soms into the project. Once completed, the railway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and economic integration across Central Asia, reinforcing its role as a vital corridor for regional and global trade.
