Shavkat Mirziyoyev approves Uzbekistan-Belarus electronic certification deal

Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved an intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and Belarus to implement electronic systems for certifying the origin of goods. The agreement, aimed at enhancing bilateral trade, comes as trade between the two countries reached nearly $500 million in the first 11 months of the year. The decree is available on Lex.uz.

The agreement was signed on February 8 during the visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Uzbekistan. At that time, the parties agreed to establish a joint foreign trade company and set up mechanisms to support export-import supplies.

The Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, along with the Customs Committee, will be responsible for the implementation of the agreement.

Last week, a program was adopted to remove technical barriers in mutual trade. The document was signed by Akmal Jumanazarov, Director of the Agency for Technical Regulation, and Elena Morgunova, Chair of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus.

As Morgunova stated, the program includes a series of measures to simplify bilateral supplies, with its implementation planned to be completed by the end of June 2025. Jumanazarov mentioned that the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Belarus for 11 months amounted to around $500 million.

Earlier, it was reported that a "single window" is planned to be created for small businesses in Uzbekistan, Russia, and Belarus.
