The "Milliy Tiklanish" (National Revival) party has initiated work on a draft law titled "On Outdoor Inscriptions," as announced by the party leader Alisher Kadirov.
“This is a serious problem: in all our cities, starting with Tashkent, outdoor signs, announcements, and labels are written in other languages, even using different alphabets!” he wrote.
Kadirov emphasized that in Uzbekistan, all outdoor inscriptions, announcements, and signs must be in the Uzbek language. If needed, they may be translated into other languages.
“Our attitude toward the Uzbek language, as the most important national value, must change fundamentally. Entrepreneurs, property owners, and government bodies must first and foremost show respect for the Uzbek language and set an example by complying with the law. Society must take a firm stance on this issue,” he added.
