According to reports, an 11th-grade student, M.S., from School No. 59 in Shaykhontokhur district, sought medical attention at Tashkent City Phthisiology Dispensary No. 3 on December 26, 2024.
M.S.'s older sister, M.D., stated that M.S. had been frequently unwell in recent months. However, the family only consulted private clinics for treatment. After her last visit to an ENT specialist, M.S. was referred to the Phthisiology Dispensary No. 3.
Following an X-ray examination at the dispensary, M.S. was diagnosed with "Tuberculosis of the upper lobe of the right lung, inflammatory stage, BK+.” The patient was immediately hospitalized at the Tashkent City Children's Tuberculosis Hospital.
Six individuals who had close contact with M.S. at home underwent X-ray examinations at the dispensary, and none were found to have active tuberculosis.
Additionally, students and teachers from both School No. 59 and the private tutoring center M.S. attended were screened using X-ray and Diaskintest methods at Phthisiology Dispensary No. 3.
During these examinations, one student, who is a close friend of M.S., was diagnosed with "Focal tuberculosis of the upper lobe of the right lung, BK abs,” and was also hospitalized.
Moreover, three other students (A.A., R.M., and E.D.) and one teacher (B.U.) were identified as having a predisposition to the disease and have begun preventive treatment.
Due to identified shortcomings, an administrative protocol was issued against the principal of School No. 59 by the Tashkent City Sanitary and Epidemiological Service.
"On January 23, additional disinfection and sanitation measures were carried out at this school," the report stated.
