Number of crimes committed by officials increased sharply in 2024
According to a report by the Prosecutor General's Office, the number of officials held criminally liable surged from 3,575 in 2023 to 4,906 in 2024.
The statuses of officials held accountable in 2024 were as follows:
- Employees at the national level: 71 individuals;
- Employees at the regional level: 410 individuals;
- Employees at the district (city) level: 4,425 individuals.
In comparison, in 2023:
- National-level employees: 49 individuals;
- Regional-level employees: 267 individuals;
- District (city)-level employees: 3,259 individuals.
The types of crimes committed by the officials held accountable were as follows:
- Misappropriation or embezzlement of others' property: 2,929 individuals (compared to 2,205 in 2023);
- Bribery (receiving, giving, or mediating in bribes): 353 individuals (195 in 2023);
- Fraud: 447 individuals (272 in 2023);
- Abuse of official authority: 226 individuals (397 in 2023);
- Exceeding official powers: 13 individuals (30 in 2023);
- Forgery by officials: 13 individuals (36 in 2023);
- Negligence in office: 40 individuals (25 in 2023);
- Other crimes: 885 individuals (415 in 2023).
