A meeting was held in Qatar between Behzod Musaev, Director of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, and Olimjon Abdullaev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, with Muhammad bin Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, CEO of the state-owned Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar, Ashraf Khodjaev, also attended the discussions.

Hamad Medical Corporation operates 15 hospitals of various specializations, employing over 35,000 staff, including 12,000 nurses. The hospitals serve more than 3 million patients annually from Qatar and other countries in the region.

During the talks, the head of Hamad Medical Corporation emphasized that Uzbekistan, as a strategic partner of Qatar and a country with a significant labor resource potential, is of great interest for establishing long-term cooperation to meet the growing staffing needs of Qatar’s healthcare system.

The Uzbek delegation, in turn, provided insights into the operations of the Migration Agency and the mechanisms for external labor migration in Uzbekistan, highlighting successful models of cooperation with international partners.

As a result of the discussions, an agreement was reached to create a joint working group that will address all matters related to the recruitment of medical professionals, their professional and language training, work visa procedures, travel to Doha, and the provision of suitable living and working conditions at HMC hospitals.
