According to Dunyo news agency, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olimjon Abdullaev, met with a South Korean delegation led by Ulsan Mayor Doogyeom Kim. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in developing human resources and attracting labor from Uzbekistan to major industrial facilities in Ulsan.
Mayor Doogyeom Kim announced that, for the first time, Uzbekistan’s citizens would be granted work visas through a simplified process managed by the Ulsan City Hall.
The Ulsan municipal government is introducing a range of privileges for Uzbek citizens. Graduates who complete a three-month vocational training and language course will be eligible to receive a work visa and secure employment. This initiative is being implemented as a pilot project for the first time.
Mayor Doogyeom Kim noted that if the project yields positive results, other cities in South Korea might also adopt this mechanism for Uzbek workers.
South Korean representatives expressed their willingness to consider Uzbekistan’s request to allow Uzbek citizens to be employed in Ulsan enterprises alongside their families, provided they have legal status.
The sides reached several agreements to strengthen cooperation in employing Uzbek workers in South Korea’s industrial and other economic sectors.
