Central Asia–GCC summit in Samarkand postponed
The summit between Central Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), initially scheduled to take place in Samarkand on May 5, has been postponed indefinitely, sources told Kun.uz. The information was later confirmed by the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Akhror Burkhanov, the summit has been postponed to a later date based on mutual agreement between all participating parties.
“The sides are currently working on determining a new date through mutual consultations. Additional information regarding the new date and other relevant details will be provided in due course,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
The ministry emphasized that efforts to strengthen dialogue and cooperation within this regional format will continue.
Earlier, on April 16 this year, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov attended the third ministerial meeting of the “Central Asia – GCC Strategic Dialogue” in Kuwait. During the meeting, it had been announced that a high-level summit would take place in Samarkand on May 5.
