Sergio Gor, the United States Special Representative for South and Central Asia, will serve as co-chair of the newly established U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council. The announcement was made by the US Embassy in Tashkent.

“This is a major step forward in advancing an America First economic agenda in Central Asia and creating new opportunities for U.S. workers, innovators, and businesses.

“Ambassador Gor will lead U.S. engagement on this council alongside Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan. His role reflects President Trump’s commitment to strengthening America’s economic leadership, expanding access for U.S. companies, and ensuring that partnerships abroad deliver real benefits for the American people.

“The Council will focus on expanding U.S. and Uzbekistani investment and export opportunities, opening high-growth sectors, especially IT and digital innovation, to U.S. technology and talent; and promoting a level playing field for U.S. exporters.

“President Mirziyoyev’s recent visit to Washington for the November 4–6 C5+1 Summit demonstrated strong momentum in the U.S.–Uzbekistan relationship. The new Business and Investment Council will build on this progress and help ensure America continues to grow stronger, safer, and more prosperous through strategic economic engagement,” the embassy said in its statement.

In November, a presidential decree established the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council with U.S. co-chairmanship. The council is tasked with coordinating strategic business initiatives, promoting and monitoring major investment and trade projects.
