Tashkent authorities sanction construction firms for violating environmental rules

Several construction companies in Tashkent have been sanctioned for failing to comply with environmental regulations, according to the city’s Construction Inspection.

The Construction Inspection reported that 35 mandatory notices were issued over violations, water-spraying devices were installed at 24 sites, and vehicle-washing areas were set up at 47 construction facilities. Nearly 60 representatives of construction firms were also subjected to administrative liability.

The Tashkent City Inspection for Construction and Housing and Communal Services, together with several responsible agencies, is conducting enhanced monitoring to ensure that construction activities comply with the “Safety in construction” urban planning rules and standards.

According to the Construction Inspection, these monitoring measures aim to improve the environmental situation in Tashkent and ensure strict adherence to sanitary and hygiene requirements during the construction process.

During the inspections, each site’s current condition was assessed with particular attention to the following factors:

  • – installation and regular operation of water-spraying systems to reduce dust at construction sites;
  • – availability of designated vehicle-washing areas at site entry and exit points;
  • – ensuring that trucks and light vehicles leave the construction area in a clean condition;
  • – introduction of additional preventive measures to reduce dust risks on open ground areas.

The inspections found that 53 construction sites violated dust-control requirements, allowing sand and dust particles to be released into the air. In 47 cases, at least 25 percent of the construction zone had not been greened as required.

In total, 35 mandatory notices were issued, water-spraying devices were installed at 24 facilities, and 47 sites were equipped with vehicle-washing areas. Nearly 60 representatives of construction companies faced administrative penalties.
