According to the press service of Toshshahartansxizmat JSC, over 19,500 instances of unpaid fares were identified between January and November. The company noted that this figure highlights the need for tighter control and greater discipline within the public transport system.
As a result, intensified inspection campaigns are now being carried out on Tashkent’s public transport network. These operations are conducted by the Transport Control Inspectorate and the Tashkent City State Institution for Monitoring and Oversight of Passenger Transportation.
Employees of the state monitoring institution have now been granted the authority to issue administrative fines to passengers who fail to pay their fares. Officials say this measure will allow for quicker responses to violations and help ensure compliance with legal requirements.
The press service emphasized that paying fares on time is not only a legal obligation but also a key factor in maintaining the system’s stable operation and improving service quality.
“Dear passengers! Please do not forget to pay your fare on time when riding buses,” the announcement said.
