Mirziyoyev made the remarks at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Andijan region, support for businesses and measures to raise household incomes, presidential spokesperson Sherzod Asadov said.

The region’s economy grew by 8.8% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. Industrial production increased by 9.2%, services expanded by more than 16%, while investment inflows rose by almost 9%.

“What matters to us is not the growth figures themselves, but the changes each indicator brings to the everyday lives of families,” Mirziyoyev said.

Since 2016, Andijan region has received UZS 20 trillion in budget funds for development, along with another UZS 90 trillion in bank loans. A further UZS 6 trillion has been allocated this year for programs aimed at improving living standards.

The president called for greater attention to the quality and composition of investment and its impact on the economy. Investment projects worth $7 billion are expected to be launched in the near future, with 70,000 high-paying jobs to be created through the use of 1,000 hectares of land allocated for business projects.

At the same time, officials noted that the $3.5 billion in investment planned for the region this year remains insufficiently diversified across countries and sectors.

The IT sector, for example, is not receiving enough investment to strengthen its technological base despite the availability of qualified specialists. Mirziyoyev stressed the need to attract investment into industries based on advanced technologies and high value-added production.

The president also called for Uzbekistan to develop its own technologies by drawing on three decades of experience in the automotive and engineering industries.

Asaka has been selected for the creation of the Engineering Valley, which will focus on programming, electronics and electromechanics. The complex is intended to help develop domestic technologies and strengthen the technological capabilities of the region’s manufacturing sector.
