A traditional Culture Week has taken place at the Westminster International University in Tashkent.
Every year, in the last week of April, WIUT plays host to one of the most desired and much-promising projects of the year – Culture Week, which is a rather important and memorable social event aimed at fostering all-round talented youth in the spirit of respect for national values and traditions, tolerance, as well as informing about the projects and activities of the university. Every year, the occasion is attended by more than a thousand people, including art figures, representatives of diplomatic circles, the scholarly community, journalists and, of course, students.
PR specialist of the university, Nazokat Kayumova, has shared her thoughts and presented information to UT. She said thus, “loads of extraordinary, interesting events took place this year as part of the program. The opening ceremony of the Week turned into a show of talents whereby the students of our university demonstrated their skills and mastery. The gifted ones were sel ected out by the jury composed of celebrities and DJs of Uzbekistan.
The next day was noted for the official awarding ceremony of students active in the public life of the institution. The third day was that of the contest KVN (the club of joyous and witty) when the students told about the academic life of the university with humor. Eight teams competed: two were from WIUT, while the rest were fr om the Tashkent team of KVN premier league. For fashion lovers, the show Podium was organized on April 28. The platform served as a showroom for young designers to display their collections of apparel. The models were student girls distinct with not merely successful studies, but also aspiration for cultural enrichment. On the last day of the Week, at the Culture Fair, the exhibition contest Art is Great started simultaneously, whose jury included the officials of the British Embassy, Rector of Tashkent Architectural Construction Institute Ravshan Hakimov, as well as the Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Art Academy Akmal Nuridinov. In addition, the contests included those for essay writers and the one for the best landscape design. The Culture Week culminated in a Cuisine Fair. The event, according to visitors, was the tastiest project of the Week.
