Versatile Format, Fruitful Dialog

Two big events – the Eighth  Tashkent International Leasing Forum and the Tenth Tashkent International Forum on Insurance and Reinsurance – have kicked off in Tashkent, bringing together national and international financiers.

Leasing Portfolio

The Leasing Forum was organized by SAIPRO Information and Rating Agency and the Uzbekistan Lessors Association. Uzbek Leasing International is the general partner of the event.

The forum has brought together representatives of ministries and departments, international organizations, associations, leasing and other financial institutions, heads of national and foreign leasing and audit companies, banks, experts and industry analysts.

The relevance of leasing issues was conditioned by the current state of the economy of Uzbekistan. Today, leasing ranks among the most effective ways of investing in equipping and upgrade of manufactures, promoting the development of small business and private entrepreneurship and thereby creation of competitive production. Leasing services in Uzbekistan have promising prospects for further development owing to the reforms that are focused on the development of the real economy and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

Industry development performance is remarkable as well. For instance, in 2015, leasing services in Uzbekistan were rendered by 90 organizations, including 24 banks. The total portfolio of leasing operations was 2.45 trillion soums last year, increasing by 14.4% against 2014. In 2015, the leasing companies of the country concluded more than 5,600 new lease transactions, which amounted to over 850 billion soums. Agricultural equipment has been a leader among the objects for leasing: its share in the total structure of leasing transactions amounted to 32.9% in 2015. The share of transactions on leasing of technological equipment made up 30.6%, transport - 19.8%, and real estate - 16.7%.

The forum gives floor to reports and presentations of experts of the domestic market and representatives of several foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UK, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Russia, Belarus and others.

What are the future needs of business in the leasing services? What are the global and country development trends of leasing? What ensures the growth of the leasing portfolio? The experience of foreign countries in the leasing business management in the conditions of the crisis and anti-crisis measures and actions of the leasing sector, the state and prospects of leasing and security cooperation is just a part of the issues to be discussed in plenary and breakout sessions.

The forum agenda also includes business meetings and negotiations, which will provide an opportunity for the leasing sector to expand cooperation.

A ceremony of public award in leasing activity will take place as part of the forum.

It is expected that the forum will become an effective interactive platform for domestic and foreign participants in terms of establishment and continuation of mutually beneficial business contacts and experience exchange.
