Project “Tashkent-2025: Transformation” presented to public

On November 8, the project “Tashkent-2025: Transformation”, proposed by the initiative group of the public council under the city administration and supported by the khokimiyat, was presented, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

Basically, the vision focuses on the main six areas of improvements. These directions include administrative reform, economic development strategy, urban planning, utilities, social sphere, inclusive development and the environment.

The project initiators see Tashkent by 2025 as a modern city, attractive for investments and tourism, preserving historical and cultural heritage, caring for citizens and the environment.

“This project is being launched primarily for townspeople,” Jakhongir Ortikhujayev, the acting khokim of Tashkent said. “This is the first phase in creating a long-term development strategy for the capital. Good results cannot be achieved without a clear development plan and transparent indicators for assessing its implementation,” he stressed.

A team of local and international experts will be formed to prepare the project strategy. The project will be implemented by the Center for Urbanism through sponsorship, including grants from international financial institutions.
