Palestinian Embassy celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in Tashkent
On November 15, 1988, the proclamation of the State of Palestine took place in Algeria at the session of the Palestinian National Council – the highest deliberative body of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The Palestinian National Council, the Palestinian Parliament in exile, made a historic decision to establish a Palestinian independent democratic state in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967.
The declaration unilaterally proclaimed the creation of the State of Palestine. At the time of the adoption of declaration, the PLO did not control the territory for which it claimed.
On the occasion of significant date, the Palestinian Embassy in Uzbekistan arranged a ceremonial meeting for representatives of diplomatic missions, public and the media on November 15.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Palestine Muhammad Tarshahani delivered a major speech at the opening of the event.
Talking about relationship with Uzbekistan, the Palestinian ambassador noted: “Since the moment independence was gained, Uzbekistan has taken an invariable position in support of the Palestinian people. Relations between Uzbekistan and Palestine are developing in a positive way. This year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Dr. Riad Malki paid an official visit to Uzbekistan and met with the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov.”
“Rounds of political consultations were held at the level of the Deputy Foreign Ministries of Palestine and Uzbekistan. We are working with our Uzbek friends to develop and strengthen these relations. I can say that a number of agreements are being considered by both parties. I hope that we will be able to prepare them for signing in the near future,” added the ambassador.
The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
