Director of the film “Shum bola” dies aged 82
Director Damir Salimov died at the age of 82 on March 28, Uzbekkino reports.
“Cinematography of Uzbekistan suffered a heavy loss. Damir Salimov, a well-known director and cinematographer, died,” the message reads.
Salimov was born in Samarkand on July 19, 1937. In 1959, he graduated from All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, the workshop of Mikhail Romm, where he studied with Andrei Tarkovsky, Vasily Shukshin, Alexander Mitta. Honored Artist of Uzbekistan (1981), in 1983 received the State Prize of the Uzbek SSR named after Khamza.
Among his main works are the films “Leningraders, my children ...” and “Shum bola” (The Rascal).
