Tanzila Narbayeva to discuss elimination of child labor in Uzbekistan at a forum in Brussels
On April 1-3, as part of the Uzbek government delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbayeva and the Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Sherzod Kudbiyev, as well as leaders of the associations “Uztukimachiliksanoat” and “Uzbekiston ipagi”, the Federation of Trade Unions will visit the capital of the European Union on a working visit.
According to the mission of Uzbekistan to the EU, the government representatives responsible for eradication of forced labor will take part in Brussels in the discussion forum on the topic “How Uzbekistan eradicates child and forced labor while harvesting cotton”.
The event was organized jointly with the International Labor Organization, the World Bank, and the embassies of Uzbekistan, the United States and Switzerland. The forum will be attended by representatives of the European Commission, international non-governmental organizations, as well as labor and human rights NGOs, business and investment companies advocating the eradication of child and forced labor in cotton production.
The program of the visit includes meetings with representatives of the European Union, the Kingdom of Belgium, human rights organizations, including the largest European associations of manufacturers, retailers and trade union organizations, as well as leading European brands.
The government delegation will also hold talks with Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation Sharan Burrow, representatives of the international NGO Human Rights Watch and other international institutions.
