“In order to more actively assist the countries of Central Asia in increasing the interconnectedness of the region, as well as its integration into the global system of economy, trade and transport, it is proposed to establish a ministerial dialogue on sustainable interconnectedness “EU – CA”, Dunyo IA reports.
The agenda of the dialogue is planned to include issues of strengthening interregional cooperation in the field of transport and communication ties, investment and trade, energy and digital communications, as well as public diplomacy.
Asadov noted that during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel on April 20, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to hold a ministerial conference in Tashkent.
According to him, the proposed ministerial conference can serve as a good platform for promoting the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to create a Regional Center for the Development of Transport and Communications in Central Asia.
“In the foreseeable future, the EU intends to link the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) with the transport and logistics infrastructure of the Eastern Partnership countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) with the subsequent connection of the link to the Central Asian countries. That is, the EU is showing great interest in connecting our region to transcontinental transport and infrastructure projects,” the Deputy Minister added.
