Uzbekistan launches system of electronic waybills in cargo transportation
The document provides for the simplification and acceleration of the procedure for drawing up a contract of carriage using electronic means of communication by introducing an electronic consignment note, which has equal legal force with its paper version.
In Uzbekistan, from January 14, an additional protocol to the convention on the contract for the international carriage of goods by road (CMR), concerning electronic consignment notes, entered into force, the MFA press service reported.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan has been a member of the CMR since 1995.
The department recalled that the country joined the protocol in accordance with the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated September 25, 2020.
The protocol was signed in Geneva on February 20, 2008, at the moment 29 countries, including Russia, are parties to it.
“The document provides for the simplification and acceleration of the procedure for drawing up a contract of carriage using electronic means of communication by introducing an electronic waybill, which has equal legal force with its paper version,” the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the participation of Uzbekistan in the protocol will simplify the workflow when organizing transportation in international road traffic, as well as speed up the process of data exchange within modern logistics chains.
