Uzbekistan, Afghanistan eye to bring trade turnover to $2bn
On February 2, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, and Chief of Staff to President Ashraf Ghani, Muhammad Shakir Korgar.
At the meeting, the issues of further expanding multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of maintaining the current pace of bilateral relations and the implementation of previously reached agreements, which include creating favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover and bringing it to at least $2 billion in the coming years, strengthening cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture and logistics, implementing important programs in the spheres of health, education and culture.


The members of the Afghan delegation thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani.

The Afghan sides expressed deep gratitude for Uzbekistan’s resolute efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
