Lavrov announces possibility of producing Sputnik V vaccine in Uzbekistan

Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, stated that Russia considers the possibility of producing the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in Uzbekistan.

He noted that a delegation from the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan had visited Moscow.

“Mass vaccination will begin in Uzbekistan these days... We are considering the issue of producing the Sputnik V vaccine in Uzbekistan, where it has been registered in an accelerated order. We greatly appreciate our cooperation in this area,” said Lavrov at the press conference on the results of the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.

Earlier First Deputy Minister of Innovative Development, Director of the Center for Advanced Technologies Shakhlo Turdikulova reported that Uzbekistan plans to use two vaccines for mass vaccination against coronavirus – Russian Sputnik V and Sino-Uzbek ZF-UZ-VAC 2001.
