ODIHR mission to visit Uzbekistan
On May 24-28, experts from the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission are expected to visit Uzbekistan in connection with the upcoming presidential elections, which will be held in October 2021.
According to the press service of the CEC of Uzbekistan, the Needs Assessment Mission is usually sent several months before the start of a particular election to assess the pre-election conditions in the country.
“The OSCE/ODIHR makes a decision on the observation of the elections in accordance with the recommendations presented as a result of the work of the mission. The mission also gives recommendations on the type, form, duration and volume of necessary measures to observe the elections,” the CEC said.
During the visit, the mission specialists will meet with representatives of a number of ministries and departments, political parties and the media.
