Shoazim Minovarov appointed Advisor to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Shoazim Minovarov has been appointed Advisor to the President on Issues of Interaction with Public and Religious Organizations.

He replaced Rustam Kasimov, who died on May 7. Kasimov was on vacation for a month due to health problems and was treated for a serious illness in hospital.

Shoazim Minovarov was born in 1951. From June 27, 1997 to August 1, 2006, he was chairman and first deputy chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers. From August 1, 2006 to December 1, 2006 – State Advisor to the President, from December 1, 2006 to June 28, 2008 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He was the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Egypt in 2008-2012. From April 2015 to July 2017, he served as the chairman of the Tashkent French Alliance.
