CEC registers Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Maksuda Vorisova and Bakhrom Abdukhalimov as presidential candidates

A regular meeting of the Central Election Commission is being held today, September 14, at the Palace of Symposiums in Tashkent.

According to Kun.uz correspondent, the meeting is considering the registration of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Maksuda Vorisova and Bakhrom Abdukhalimov as candidates for the presidency of Uzbekistan, as well as the accreditation of foreign observers in the presidential election.

It was reported on September 9-10, these political parties submitted the necessary documents and signature sheets in support of the nominated presidential candidates. The correctness of the signature sheets was checked by the Expert Group of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

“During the visual examination of each signature sheet, the expert team focused on whether they were filled in correctly, corrections were made, there were deleted corrections, they were filled in by different persons, there were similar signatures, there were approved corrections, and so on.

Based on the conclusion of the expert group checking the correctness of the signature sheets submitted by the political parties, the signature sheets submitted were collected in sufficient quantities for the registration of candidates and complied with the requirements of the law.

Therefore, taking into account the compliance of the documents submitted by these parties, including signature sheets in support of the presidential candidate, with the requirements of the law, Maksuda Vorisova from the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Bakhrom Abdukhalimov from the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan have been registered as candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” Zayniddin Nizomkhodjayev, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, said. 

For information, in accordance with Article 40 of the Electoral Code, the CEC within five days after the registration of candidates shall notify the relevant election commission of the candidate’s last name, first name, patronymic, year of birth, party affiliation, position (type of occupation), place of work and residence, as well as the political party that nominated him/her.

During the meeting, the issue of accreditation of observers from international organizations participating in the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was also considered.

Reportedly, in accordance with the CEC decision on the accreditation of observers from international organizations, 6 foreign observers from Japan, Georgia, the Russian Federation, Tatarstan and Belarus were registered.

It should be recalled that 5 issues were considered at the regular CEC meeting on September 11. Among them were the registration of Alisher Kadirov as a candidate for the presidency of Uzbekistan, the registration of Narzullo Oblomuradov as a candidate for the presidency of Uzbekistan, the approval of the description and sample of the certificate of a candidate for the presidency of Uzbekistan.
