Uzbekistan's passenger car imports drop, electric vehicle imports rocket in Jan-Aug 2021

In January-August 2021, Uzbekistan imported about 15 thousand passenger cars for $226.6 million from 22 foreign countries, the State Statistics Committee reported.
According to the committee, the import of passenger cars decreased by 4,350 units compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, vehicles were imported from:
- China – 4,652
- South Korea – 3,597
- Russia – 2,952
- Kazakhstan – 1,744
- Poland – 811
- Lithuania – 427
- USA – 331
- Thailand – 250
- Germany – 81
- Japan – 64
- Turkey – 25
Also, in the first 8 months of 2021, Uzbekistan imported 501 electric vehicles from 9 countries for $9.2 million. This is more by 428 units in comparison with the same period last year. The main exporter of electric cars to Uzbekistan was China – 443 units.
