Uzbekistan increases cement imports

In January-August 2021, Uzbekistan imported 1.9 million tons of cement for $95.8 million, the Statistics Committee reported.

The figure is 555 thousand tons more than in the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Uzbekistan imported cement mainly from:

• Kazakhstan – 898 thousand tons
• Kyrgyzstan – 496 thousand tons
• Tajikistan – 471 thousand tons
• Iran – 47 thousand tons
• Turkmenistan – 26 thousand tons

According to the committee, in the first 8 months of 2021, the republic produced about 8 million tons of cement.
