Uzbekistan decreases volume of electricity generation at hydroelectric power plants by almost 30%
Felling of trees, waste of water and poor attitude towards the land gradually lead to various problems. In turn, this also negatively affects the development of the economy as a whole.

As the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports, the generation of electricity at the country’s hydroelectric power plants has decreased by almost 30% due to the lack of water this year, which affects the electricity supply to consumers.
“Due to a decrease in the production of electricity at hydroelectric power plants, due to low water, there are short-term power outages in some regions. This is due to a drop in the production of electricity at hydroelectric power plants, which led to the lack of the required volume of electricity to cover the full demand,” the press service said in a statement.
According to the ministry, in 2019, the generation at hydroelectric power plants amounted to 6.5 billion kWh, and this year, this figure is 5 billion kWh or less by 1.5 billion kWh (30%).
“This missing volume would be enough to provide the entire population of the republic with electricity for one month in the autumn-winter period. The situation this year, when the established water reserves were not collected in the reservoirs, is typical not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the region as a whole,” the press service noted.
In conclusion, at present the country is taking all measures to generate electricity in the planned volumes at thermal power plants.
