The Republic of Panama has become the 138th country with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations. The parties signed a joint communiqué in New York on November 29.

Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, and Permanent Representative of Panama to the UN, Ambassador Markova Concepción Jaramillo inked the document on behalf of the governments of the two countries.

The parties confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening joint interaction within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.

Panama is a state located at the junction of Central and South America, between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and provides an important shipping route.

“The signing of the document was an important step for enhancing Uzbekistan’s interaction with the countries of Central and South America, at the intersection of which Panama is located,” the report says.

It should be recalled that in mid-May this year, the commonwealth of Dominica became the 137th country with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations.
