Two companies steal about 1 billion soums worth of electricity in Samarkand

The Prosecutor General’s Office has revealed cases of illegal use of electricity in the Narpay and Pakhtachi districts of Samarkand region.
According to the PGO press service, a family business owner in Narpay used electricity illegally by connecting equipment to the power grid. As a result, he caused damage in the amount of 830.3 million soums to the interests of the state and society.
Similarly, a resident of the Pakhtachi district established family business of stone cutting by using electricity illegally. He installed mills and other equipment at his home. The damage he caused to the power company amounted to 133.8 million soums.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the business owners under Article 185-2 of the Criminal Code, an investigation is ongoing.
