Senate hosts a meeting with delegation of the European Parliament
On February 23, the Senate hosted a meeting between Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, and a delegation led by David McAllister, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
According to the parliamentary press service, the parties discussed issues of further strengthening relations with the European Union, in particular, inter-parliamentary relations.
It was noted that in order to establish direct contacts between members of the parliaments of the countries, delegations visit regularly, parliamentarians study law-making activities and exchange experience.
During the meeting, David McAllister said that the European Union pays attention to cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, including the dynamic development of partnership and cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas of mutual interest. In particular, he noted that “thanks to the measures taken by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop the country in the right direction, we are ready to support these reforms”.
He expressed confidence that the inclusion of Uzbekistan in the European Union GSP+ list and these benefits will open up good opportunities for entrepreneurs and serve to further increase the export potential of Uzbekistan.
There was also an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
