US dollar exchange rate further increases against UZS
Several commercial banks in Uzbekistan raised the US dollar exchange rate on Thursday, March 17.
Many of the banks have set the purchase rate at 11,520 – 11,570 soums and the sale at 11,620 - 11,630 soums. For the first time, the exchange rate of the dollar has reached the 11,630 soums mark. The Uzbek soum is losing its value dramatically.
Below is a list of some banks that have already set a new dollar rate:
• Aloqabank: purchase - 11,520, sale - 11,630;
• Savdogarbank: purchase - 11,570, sale - 11,630;
• Agrobank: purchase - 11,560, sale - 11,620;
• Kapitalbank: purchase - 11,560, sale - 11,620;
• NBU: purchase - 11,550, sale - 11,630;
• Hamkorbank: purchase - 11,570, sale - 11,630.
The official dollar exchange rate of the Central Bank (as of March 17) is 11,330.38 soums.
In 2021, the Uzbek soum depreciated by 3.4% - the fall was the lowest since 2018. This year, however, it has already lost its value by 6.4%.
